Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened on Earth Day, April 22, 1998. It has a large wildlife preserve in addition to rides. Here are our favorite attractions:

  • Kilimanjaro Safari—This is a safari through the wildlife preserve, where you will see many species of wildlife, including lions, tigers, rhinos, crocodiles, various antelope, flamingos, and other birds, zebras, giraffes, and more!
  • Expedition Everest – A roller coaster through Mount Everest, where you encounter the Yeti! View the video below for a ride on Expedition Everest.
  • Dinosaur – Ride back in time to rescue an Iguanadon before the meteor hits and causes the extinction of the dinosaurs.
  • Avatar Flight of Passage – A thrilling and beautiful ride where you can fly through the land of Pandora on a Banshee.
  • Festival of the Lion King – A live show with music from the Lion King and colorful dancers, singers, and animatronics.
  • Primeval Whirl – A spinning steel rollercoaster in Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland. This ride closed in 2021. You can view the video below to see what it was like to ride Primeval Whirl.

Our favorite restaurants in Disney’s Animal Kingdom are Tiffins, with an atmosphere inspired by international travel and African and Asian cuisine, and Yak and Yeti, with Nepalese decor and artifacts and pan-Asian cuisine.
